BARTON READING AND SPELLING SYSTEM

Study Group

"Now this is something I needed to know.  Finally, someone explained that to me, I'm so excited!  I can do it myself now." Susanna, 3rd Grade

"You just finished level 1 in Barton, we backed up and did Foundations in Sounds and it paid off," our tutor shared. "What?  I, me, finished an entire book?  Me?  I did that?  I have never finished a single book in my entire life, I can' believe how good I'm getting at this!"  Saul, 6th grader.

"I had no idea that there were actual rules to spelling.  I thought people just made up words and there was no way to figure out how to spell them."  Joel, 5th grade student.

"What do you think I should tell others that are thinking about trying out tutoring with us?"  "Oh, that is easy.  It works!  Reading has been so hard for me and now it is like I'm cracking a code or something.  I look at words differently and I know I am getting better all of the time.  Just tell them to do it, because the time goes by fast." Grace 4th grader.

ANGIE NEWBURY, MA CED

Owner/Operator/Tutor

Since 2005 I have been supporting individuals with delays in language and literacy.  I am a retired teacher certified Barton Tutor. During my years in the school system, I served as a certified ELL teacher, and taught students with hearing loss for several years.  I'm also a Reading Specialist and have helped to train teachers as an adjunct instructor.  My experience has allowed me to work with, and learn from, many teams, families, and students of all ages.  My firefighter husband and I have raised three children to adulthood, and I know that families are the expert on their child.
